The Waldoboro Half Marathon
The Waldoboro Half Marathon is a road race of 13.1 miles held in Waldoboro, Maine, at 1885 Atlantic Hwy on September 19, 2026. The course includes about 1,400 feet of elevation gain over the distance, with roughly 550 feet of climbing in the final 3.5 miles. The route features seven hills of at least 10 percent gradient, including two in the final mile, and about 45 percent of the course is uphill.
The event follows a DIY, No Frills. Just Hills. approach: there is no expo, no bands on course, and no official water stations. Runners must plan their own hydration and may arrange for people to hand them fluids or stash supplies along the route. Volunteers may be limited.
A qualifying standard applies. To enter, a runner must have completed a half marathon in 2:15:00 or less within the last two years, or meet equivalent times at other distances: 15 miles in 2:35:00, 30K in 3:20:00, 20 miles in 3:35:00, or a marathon in 4:40:00. Previous finishers are automatically qualified. Race day registration is available only to runners who hold a black bib from a prior year.
The entry fee is $20.00. Finishers receive a medal, a finisher shirt from Moody's Diner, and a beer served at Odd Alewives Farm Brewery. Winners receive a Moody's Diner gift card. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
