Wabash Trace Running Festival
The Wabash Trace Running Festival in Shenandoah, Iowa, follows the Wabash Trace Nature Trail, a crushed limestone rail-trail that passes through rolling countryside, farmland, and tree-lined sections. The organizer describes the course as smooth and fast and provides distances for a range of participants.
Distances offered:
- Marathon: 26.2 Miles
- Half Marathon: 13.1 Miles
- 10K: 6.2 Miles
- 5K: 3.1 Miles
- Free Kids Run: 1 Miles
Course and logistics are specific by event. The marathon uses a peaceful out-and-back course that starts and finishes in downtown Shenandoah. The half marathon starts in downtown Imogene and finishes in Shenandoah; buses transport half marathon runners from Shenandoah to Imogene for the start. The 10K and 5K start and finish in downtown Shenandoah. The Free Kids Run is held as part of the event program.
Packet pickup and race-day services are centered at The Depot, 101 N Railroad St, Shenandoah, IA 51601. Early packet pickup is scheduled for Friday, 9/11/26 from 5–7 PM; race morning packet pickup is on Saturday, 9/12/26 from 6–7:15 AM. There is no packet pickup in Imogene for the half marathon. Gear check is available at The Depot, and half marathon gear dropped at the start is transported to the Shenandoah finish.
