VNSHS Run for the Health of It 5K Run/Walk : May 8, 2027
This event is a community 5K run/walk that benefits Visiting Nurse Service & Hospice of Suffolk. It includes an in-person 5K and an untimed Kids Fun Run, plus a virtual 5K option that coincides with National Nurses Week (May 6–12, 2027).
Location and course: the event is based at Visiting Nurse Service & Hospice of Suffolk, 505 Main Street, Northport, NY. The course is a USATF-certified 5K (3.1 miles) over residential roads with rolling hills and incorporates about 1.6K of the historic Cow Harbor course. Police traffic control and volunteers support the course. A water station is available approximately mid-way near the east end of Oak Street.
Participant features and logistics: the first 500 in-person participants receive a race T-shirt. Kids Fun Run participants receive a medal and a plant to gift a mother figure. Personalized bibs are available for registrations completed three weeks before the event; virtual bibs are mailed the Monday before the race. Wheelchair competitors may register.
Awards and extras: cash prizes are listed for top overall, masters (40+), nurse, and largest team placings; age-group awards are given as Amazon gift cards.
