VNSHS Run for the Health of It 5K Run/Walk : Northport NY
The VNSHS Run for the Health of It is the 26th annual 5K event held to benefit the Visiting Nurse Service & Hospice of Suffolk. The in-person event takes place in Northport at the Visiting Nurse Service & Hospice of Suffolk, 505 Main Street, and is part of the USATF Long Island Grand Prix.
Race options include both in-person and virtual choices:
- In-person 5K Run/Walk
- In-person Kids Fun Run (untimed)
- Virtual 5K Run/Walk
- Virtual 5K Bike
The certified USATF 5K course runs through residential roads of Northport and includes challenging rolling hills plus 1.6K of the historic Cow Harbor course. Police traffic control and volunteers support the course. A water station is available approximately mid-way near the east end of Oak Street. Parking is provided at the William J. Brosnan Building at 158 Laurel Avenue.
Awards include cash prizes for top overall finishers, Masters and nurse categories, age group awards across standard divisions, and a cash prize for the largest team. The first 500 registrants receive a race T‑shirt. Kids Fun Run participants receive a medal and a plant intended as a Mother’s Day gift.
