Event overview
The VNSHS Run for the Health of It is a benefit event for the Visiting Nurse Service & Hospice of Suffolk held on May 9, 2026 in Northport, New York. The event offers in-person and virtual participation options during National Nurses Week. The first 500 in-person participants receive a race tee shirt. All Kids Fun Run participants receive a medal and a plant to gift a mother figure for Mother’s Day.

Course, logistics and awards
The 5K course is USATF certified and follows residential roads in Northport, including about 1.6 km of the historic Cow Harbor course. The course includes rolling hills, police traffic control, volunteers, and a water station approximately mid-way near the east end of Oak Street. Parking is available at the William J. Brosnan Building, 158 Laurel Avenue.
Awards include cash prizes for top overall finishers and masters, a nurse award, age-group awards across standard age brackets, and a cash prize for the largest team.
