About the race
Village Cycle Sprint Tri Club Champs 2027 is a club championship event at Rabbit Island, New Zealand, featuring triathlon, duathlon and multisport formats on 28 February 2027. Medals for Club Championships are reserved for Nelson Triathlon & Multisport Club members; non-members may compete but are not eligible for medals. Club members must select their championship category during registration.
Race formats and distances:
- Long Triathlon: 750m swim, 20km road bike, 5km run
- Short Triathlon: 250m swim, 10km road bike, 2.5km run
- Long Duathlon: 5km run, 20km road bike, 2.5km run
- Short Duathlon: 2.5km run, 10km road bike, 2.5km run
- Long Multisport: 3km kayak, 20km road bike, 5km run
- Short Multisport: 1.5km kayak, 10km road bike, 2.5km run
Course details note the swim uses a flat triangular course with the 250m option covering the base, the bike is a straight flat road course, and the run is a 2.5km loop mostly sealed with an unsealed section along the old road above the beach. Drafting is allowed on the bike leg; participants are asked not to use aero bars if in a drafting situation. The course is not closed to traffic and riders must keep left and ride single file unless passing. Entrants under 18 participate at their parent or guardian's discretion.
Event entry includes a post-race barbecue and a small prizegiving with spot prizes. Entry fees vary by member status and age, with online discounts for club members and students; pay-at-event entries receive no discounts. Race day entries incur a 50% late entry penalty.
