About the race
Proper Crisps Team Cross Triathlon is a team-format triathlon held at Rabbit Island, New Zealand. The event uses a repeated course made up of a swim, a mountain bike leg and a run, with the sequence repeated three times continuously. Distances for each lap are:
- 200 m swim
- 6 km mountain bike
- 1 km run
Teams may choose from several formats: Team Tag Tri, where each team member completes a full triathlon before tagging the next team member on the beach; Team Tri, where specialist swimmer, cyclist and runner alternate through the disciplines; or a "loose cannons" option that allows individuals to complete all nine stages or other custom combinations.
A barbecue for competitors and a small prizegiving with spot prizes follow the race. Drafting is permitted on the bike leg, and participants are asked not to use aero bars if they find themselves in a drafting situation or are unfamiliar with drafting skills. The course is not closed to traffic; riders must keep left and ride single file unless passing. Entrants under 18 take part at their parent’s or guardian’s discretion. Attendance at the compulsory race briefing is required. Registration closes on Saturday, April 3, 2027. Nelson Triathlon Club applies a no refund policy for club events.
