Viewpoint Endurance Challenge
The Viewpoint Endurance Challenge is a series of timed events held near Whittier, NC on a 1.4 mile loop course. The loop combines a 1.0 mile hard-packed gravel section and a 0.4 mile asphalt section, with approximately 118 ft of gain and 100 ft of loss per lap. The course passes the main conference center, which has bathrooms and showers, and each lap passes the main aid station and portable toilets. Canopy tents may be set up along the course in permitted areas for self support and crew access.
Timed formats credit participants with the miles they complete within the event time limit rather than a finish-only classification. Lap keeping is provided by chip or tag and there is an option to record laps on a large white board. The event includes rucking divisions added for the year, for men's and women's 3 hour and 6 hour events with weight requirements of 20 lb for men and 10 lb for women. A 24 hour finisher award is a custom belt buckle for participants who complete at least 37 laps, equivalent to 50.4 miles. On-site lodging options include hotel rooms, bunk houses, RV park spaces and tent camping. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
