Event Overview
The Vicksburg Run Thru History is the 47th annual edition of this event, scheduled for March 7, 2026. It takes place at the Vicksburg National Military Park in Vicksburg, Mississippi. The event is partially funded by the Vicksburg Convention & Visitors Bureau.
Races
Participants can choose from three race distances:
- 10K Run
- 5K Walk
- 1 Mile Fun Run (Cannonball Run)
Courses
All courses are entirely within the boundaries of the Vicksburg National Military Park, following the park tour roads. The finish line for all races is located at the VNMP Visitor's Center.
Event Features
Chip timing is used for the races. A team challenge is available, with trophies awarded for the largest walking team and for competitive run and walk teams based on the top three finishers.
Registration and Logistics
Registration fees have early and late pricing periods. Packet pickup occurs on Friday at the Hampton Inn and on Saturday morning at the park. The Hampton Inn is the host hotel, offering a special room rate for participants.
Race Amenities
Participants receive a Run Thru History shirt, with the first 800 guaranteed. Post-race amenities include hot dogs, fruit, water, sports drinks, beer, and live music from The Chill.
Awards
Awards are presented for overall, masters, grandmasters, and senior masters in the 10K Run and 5K Walk. Age group awards are given in various categories. For the 1 Mile Fun Run, overall male and female awards are presented, and the first 100 finishers receive medals. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
