Event overview
The Vicksburg Run Thru History is a road race held at Vicksburg National Military Park in Vicksburg, Mississippi. The 2026 edition is the 47th annual running of the event and takes place on March 7, 2026. The event is presented by the Vicksburg YMCA and is partially funded by the Vicksburg Convention & Visitors Bureau. The Hampton Inn at 3330 Clay Street serves as the host hotel and race headquarters and offers a special room block for participants.

All courses are entirely within the boundaries of Vicksburg National Military Park and follow the opposite direction of the park tour road. The finish line for all races is located in front of the VNMP Visitor's Center. The 10K course begins near the Visitor's Center, goes toward the Louisiana Monument, follows Pemberton and Union avenues, uses the South Loop and returns to finish through the park arch. USA Track & Field (USATF) course certification is pending.
Packet pickup is available the night before at the Hampton Inn and on race morning at the park. Race amenities include a Run Thru History shirt (first 800 guaranteed), food and beverages for participants, and live post-race music. Age-group and overall awards are offered for the 10K and 5K; the 1 Mile fun run awards overall male and female places and medals for the first 100 finishers.
