2026 Veteran's Lorton 5k, 10k & 1M
This event offers three race distances held at Mason Neck State Park in Lorton, Virginia. Distances include:
- 5k
- 10k
- 1 mile kids race
The course follows a paved bike path through the state park. The route is described as mostly flat and both the 5k and 10k are out-and-back courses. Walkers are welcome, and a virtual race option is available for those who cannot attend in person.
Participants receive a finisher's medal, a technical (Drifit) event shirt, and chip timing. Awards are given to the top three men and top three women overall, plus first and second place in standard age groups from 19 and under through 70 and over; overall top-three finishers are not eligible for age-group prizes. Live results are posted during the race and final results with series points are published the Monday after the event.
Logistics include on-site packet pickup and race day registration. T-shirt guarantees apply to registrations before the stated deadline; sizes for race day registrants are not guaranteed. Water stations are placed along the courses (three on the 10k at about miles 1.75, 3.3 and 4.85; one on the 5k at about mile 1.75) and some stations offer Gatorade. Restrooms are located near the flagpole. Parking is available near the visitor center area of Mason Neck State Park.
The event awards points toward the Year-Long 5k, 10k, Kids and Back of the Pack series, and toward the Fall Series. The organizer runs events in most weather and may delay or cancel if conditions require. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
