Veterans Day at McKay
The 6th Annual Veterans Day at McKay takes place in Eureka, California, on November 14, 2026, at 3110 Harris Street near Redwood Acres. The event features community walk and run options on an out-and-back course that runs through the McKay Community Forest. Organizers note that course conditions may be muddy and wet due to anticipated El Niño season. This is a no dogs event because of insurance and permit requirements.
Before and after the running events there is a Community Connections Fair. Food and post-event service include a BBQ hosted by American Legion Post 274 and offerings from Frankie's NY Bagels. An awards ceremony follows the racing program. Proceeds support local veteran programs in surf, mountain biking, and ceramics.
The event lists community sponsors and local partners, including American Legion Post 274, Six Rivers Running Club, Mountain Bike Tribal Trail Alliance, Humboldt IPA, Branches Humboldt, Ramone's Bakery & Cafe, Humboldt Cider Co., DJ Rad, Adventure's Edge, and others. Organizers also seek sponsors and volunteers to support the event.
