Veterans Day 5K Run/Walk to Honor Our Veterans 2026
This event is a 5 kilometer run and walk held on November 11, 2026 at Veterans Memorial Park in Wading River, NY. The course is a simple out-and-back on a paved path with both start and finish by the hockey rink. The event offers both in-person and virtual entry options; virtual participants may upload times and photos through the Sunday after the race.
Participants who register by October 7 receive a guaranteed long sleeve tech shirt. All finishers receive a medal and may download a free finisher certificate. Additional event amenities listed include food and refreshments, free finish line photos, a live DJ, electronic timing with live results, personalized bibs when registered three weeks in advance, and multiple raffles for registrants.
Registration fees vary by entry type and date, with discounts noted for children 17 and under, veterans, seniors 65 and over, and certain club or membership affiliates. Donations collected at registration support American Legion Charities, the VFW Foundation, and the Riverhead Volunteer Ambulance Corps.
A team competition called Battle of the Services groups entrants by military branch and gender, requires at least three members per team for scoring, and awards team prizes based on combined times and team size.
