Veterans Day 5K Run/Walk to Honor Our Veterans : Wading River, NY
The event takes place on November 11, 2026 at Veterans Memorial Park in Wading River, New York. It offers both an in-person 5K run/walk and a virtual 5K option with a posting window that covers the event period.
Participants follow a simple out-and-back 5K course entirely on a paved path, with both start and finish lines located by the hockey rink. Registered finishers receive a medal, and a commemorative long sleeve tech shirt is guaranteed for those registered by October 7, subject to size availability. Personalized bibs are provided for participants who register at least three weeks in advance.
Amenities include food (pizza, bagels, heroes, bananas, snacks, cookies), refreshments (water, sodas, sparkling water), live DJ, free finish line photos, downloadable finisher certificates, and electronic timing with live results and age grading by Elitefeats. A raffle for gift cards and higher value items is held for attending registrants.
Awards are given for top overall, masters, senior masters, veteran, and age-group finishers, with additional team awards. The event runs a Battle of the Services team competition, with teams by service branch, gender divisions, and scoring based on combined times of top three finishers.
Donations are collected for American Legion Charities, the VFW Foundation, and the Riverhead Volunteer Ambulance Corps.
