Veterans Day 5k in Mills River, NC
The Veterans Day 5k takes place on November 8, 2026 at Mills River Park in Mills River, North Carolina. The event is a fundraiser for the Veterans Healing Farm and is presented by Best Buy Metals.
The main event is a 5K held on the family-friendly greenway at Mills River Park. The 5K course is two loops of the same route, beginning on Town Center Drive, and is described as flat with surrounding mountain views. A water station is located at the start/finish area around mile 1.5. Strollers are welcome and are asked to start at the back of the pack.
There is an untimed Fun Run Loop of approximately 1/2 mile around the soccer fields. The Fun Run Loop uses the same start/finish arch as the 5K, includes a bib and finisher medal, and has no awards. Parents and guardians may run or walk alongside children.
Items included with 5K registration are a race shirt, a wooden finisher medal, chip timing, and a donation to the Veterans Healing Farm. Top finishers in male and female categories receive gift certificates to Mountain Running Company and age group awards are provided for multiple age brackets; the age group awards were donated by a Vietnam veteran.
