Veteran's Day 5K : basic info
The Veteran's Day 5K is a fundraising road event organized by American Legion Post 210. It is the 10th annual edition and is held in Danville, IL (201 Prospect Place, Danville, IL 61832). The event distance is 5K. The course starts at the legion, heads north in a loop through a residential neighborhood, and returns to the legion. The route is described as generally flat with some hills. Participants may use strollers; pets are not allowed for liability reasons. Packet pickup with race bibs and shirts is available at the legion on race day. Shirts are not held after the race start; shirts will be available for sale and order on race day. Pre-race activities include a Pledge of Allegiance and the National Anthem followed by a send-off presented by the American Legion Post 210 Honor Guard. Post-race offerings include free chili and desserts, a silent auction and a 50/50. Funds raised support American Legion programs for local veterans and building improvements.
