Veterans Day 5 - Grand Rapids
The Veterans Day 5 event is a multi-format running and walking event centered at the Michigan Veteran Homes at Grand Rapids, located at 2950 Monroe Ave. NE. It includes in-person and virtual options and raises funds for the Michigan Veteran Homes at Grand Rapids Charitable Support Fund.
Distances and formats:
- 5 Miles in-person course through Riverside Park and the veterans cemetery
- 5K in-person course through Riverside Park
- 0.5 Mile Remembrance Walk, untimed
- Virtual 5 Mile option
- Virtual 5K option
Registered in-person participants on the 5-mile and 5K courses receive finisher medals. Awards are presented for top finishers in multiple categories, including top five overall 12-and-under boys and girls, top five overall men and women, and top five overall masters men and women; awards are presented during the SpartanNash Community Pancake Breakfast. The Remembrance Walk is untimed; a limited number of event shirts will be available for purchase at event check-in. Pancake Breakfast tickets are available at the door for $5 per person, with proceeds benefiting the charitable support fund.
Registration for the listed events opens on August 2, 2026, and closes on August 31, 2026. The event also includes a Steps for Heroes fundraising challenge that allows participants to fundraise and form teams while walking or running in their own communities.
