Veteran Games Challenge Manly : event overview
The Veteran Games at North Steyne Beach, Manly NSW, runs across Saturday 15 August and Sunday 16 August. The program includes two formats: Veteran Heats for military veterans and a public Veteran Games Challenge open to civilians.
The Veteran Heats are a team competition requiring teams of eight to solve problems and complete physical tasks drawn from military service and combat. Teams must complete a Team Obstacle Course Challenge and additional events that will be revealed on the day. Each team must register under a Team Captain who registers the team name first. Entry to the Veteran Heats is free. The champion team from the Heats will be sponsored to attend a finals event later in the year held in SEQ.
The Veteran Games Challenge open to the public is a paired, military-style fitness course featuring obstacles, static fitness exercises, and a 100 m beach run between stations. The course has a target completion time of 30 minutes. Competitors must enter as pairs and pay an entry fee of $75 per person. Registrations allow competitors to select their competition day and wave and competitors are allocated a competition time slot after registration.
Participation notes: veteran competitors must be current or former military personnel, Australian or overseas. Clothing guidelines differ for veterans and non-veterans. Public liability insurance is held for the event and vendors must supply their own insurance. If the event is cancelled, registrations will carry forward and refunds are available for those who withdraw. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
