VandyBoys Salute to Service 5K
The VandyBoys Salute to Service 5K returns to the Vanderbilt University campus in Nashville. This event is organized in partnership with Memories of Honor to recognize fallen service members and celebrate the 250th birthday of the United States. The course at Charles Hawkins Field serves as a living memorial where participants focus on remembrance rather than just race times.
Registration is open to the general public, with specific categories available for Vanderbilt students, staff, and active-duty military members. When registering, each participant is matched with a fallen hero and receives a memorial bib bearing that individual's name to carry throughout the distance.
The event offers the following distance:
- 5 km
Participants receive a commemorative t-shirt and a memorial bib. Awards are presented to the top overall male and female finishers. Additionally, first-place awards are given to male and female runners in several age categories: under 18, 18-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-64, and over 65. Attendees have the opportunity to visit Charles Hawkins Field after the run to observe the official Salute to Service baseball game. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
