About the race
The Vancouver Triathlon is held in Stanley Park on Monday, September 7, 2026. The event uses the seawall and park roads around Second Beach and English Bay and includes swim, bike and run segments with support on course.
Distances:
- Standard: 1500m swim, 38km bike, 10km run
- Sprint: 750m swim, 19km bike, 5km run
- Tri It: 300m swim, 9km bike, 2.5km run
The swim takes place in English Bay off Second Beach. Provided swim caps must be worn and lifeguards and volunteer craft patrol the course. The Standard swim is two 750m laps with a beach run between laps; Sprint and Tri It are one lap each. Wetsuit rules depend on water temperature and can make wetsuits either mandatory or forbidden; wetsuits are suggested. Safety equipment and marshals are present.
The bike course follows Park Drive, is closed to traffic during the event, and uses multiple laps for Sprint and Standard distances. Drafting is not permitted. Helmets that meet sport standards are required. The transition area is on Ceperley Field, east of Second Beach, and will be secured for athletes with specific racking arrangements.
Aid stations are located near the Inukshuk turnaround and at transition exit. Relay teams consist of two or three members and exchange in transition. All participants must hold valid provincial triathlon membership or purchase day insurance. All finishers receive a finisher medal; age-group awards are provided in Standard, Sprint and Relay divisions. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
