Royal Roads
The Vancouver Island Trail Running Series features an event held at Royal Roads University in Colwood, Victoria. The courses consist of single-track trails throughout the campus grounds. The event takes place on the traditional and ancestral territories of the Esquimalt and Songhees First Nations.
There are three distinct distances available:
- 11 km : Long course with approximately 300m of vertical gain.
- 6 km : Short course with approximately 100m of vertical gain.
- 1 km : Dedicated kids race.
The event staging area is located on the grassy field at the campus entrance. For the 11 km distance, one aid station is provided at the 7.5 km mark, offering water, Gatorade, and small snacks. This is a cupless event, and participants must bring their own hydration vessel.
Participants must collect their race bibs at the registration tent on the morning of the race. A government-issued photo ID is mandatory for pick-up. Ample parking is available in an adjacent dirt track, though pay parking is in effect and volunteers assist with directions.
