Valkyrie Relay - Durango, Colorado
The Valkyrie Relay is a multisport relay event in Durango, Colorado, offered in two course formats. The full course covers nearly 80 miles and the sprint course covers 53 miles. Both courses include seven disciplines and use local trails, roads, lakes, and the Animas River.

Course, disciplines, and format
Both formats combine trail running, mountain biking, road cycling, stand-up paddleboarding, open-water swimming, canoe/kayak paddling, and a final road run. Teams can split the course across multiple members; teams may include up to nine people. Individuals may also attempt the full course solo as an Ultra Heptathlete, or compete as Duos or Trios.
Key course locations include Santa Rita Whitewater Park, Horse Gulch, Lake Nighthorse, the Animas River, Oxbow Park, and local roads and trails such as Rim Drive and Railroad Trail. Specific stage lengths on the full course include a 3.1-mile SUP and a 1.2-mile swim; the sprint SUP is about 2 miles and the sprint swim is 1 km. The river paddle on the sprint is about 5 miles. The final road run uses the south loop and may be run as one or two laps depending on team configuration.
