Valkyrie Relay - Durango
The Valkyrie Relay is a multisport team relay raced over one day in the San Juan Mountains near Durango, Colorado. Each team completes seven disciplines back to back against a single clock, with one athlete or pair on each leg. The seven disciplines are trail run, mountain bike, road cycling, stand-up paddleboard, open-water swim, river paddle and road run.
The series began in June 2021 on Utah’s Wasatch Back and moved to Durango in 2023. Five editions have been raced since 2021. There was no event in 2026; that year was used to rebuild. The Valkyrie Relay returns to Durango on September 18, 2027.
Support crew called Wingmates are registered members of each team and provide the logistical support that keeps teams moving. Volunteers staff exchange zones, aid stations and the finish area. Every team podium and finishing time from official timing records is preserved in the Valkyrie Hall of Fame.
