Valkyrie Multisport Relay - Durango, Colorado
The Valkyrie Multisport Relay returns on September 18, 2027 in Durango, Colorado. The event has relay teams and a solo option called the Valkyrie Ultra Heptathlon, in which one athlete completes seven disciplines consecutively. Relay teams can include specialists and may be organized as full teams, Duos, or Trios; the relay format also allows teams of up to nine to divide the course by leg.
The full-course format traverses urban and natural landscapes around Durango, including Santa Rita Whitewater Park, Horse Gulch, Lake Nighthorse, the Animas River, and Oxbow Park. The course routes mix alpine trails, riverside singletrack, paved roads and flatwater lake sections. The seven disciplines are trail running, mountain biking, road cycling, stand-up paddleboarding, open water swimming, canoe or kayak paddling, and road running. The Sprint format shortens the overall distance while retaining the same sequence of stages.
