Event Overview
The Valentine's Heartbreaker Marathon & Relay takes place at Country Park in Greensboro, North Carolina. This event utilizes a loop course within the park where participants complete 26.2 miles by finishing 16 laps. The race is open to individual runners and teams of various sizes, creating an environment that includes a tent village for spectators and participants.
Participation Options
The event offers several divisions for both solo runners and relay teams:
- Solo Division (Male and Female)
- 2 Person Relay Team
- 4 Person Relay Team
- 5 - 8 Person Relay Team
Relay teams must designate a sequence of runners and rotate through individual laps in order. For example, in a four person team, each member performs their laps following the established order, such as laps 1, 5, 9, and 13. This structure ensures that participants have breaks between their running segments.
Participant Amenities and Logistics
The marathon is chip timed, using baton-chips for relay teams and bib-chips for solo athletes. Registered participants receive a finisher's medal, post-race food, and hospitality. A commemorative hoodie is provided to those who register at least three weeks before the race date. For those aged 21 and over, a beverage from Oden Brewing is included.
The venue allows for a "relaxation zone" where teams can set up tents to use while they are not actively running on the course. Parking and team drop-off areas are designated at the Country Park location. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
