2026 Valentine’s Day 5k & Half
The event offers two distances:
- Half marathon
- 5k
Both races take place along the Chesapeake & Ohio Canal path. The half marathon starts and finishes in Georgetown near the Potomac Boat Club. The 5k starts and finishes at Fletcher’s Boathouse. Both courses are out-and-back on a light gravel dirt surface with minimal elevation change. Walkers and strollers are welcome. A virtual race option is available.
Participants receive a finisher’s medal, a technical (drifit) event shirt, and chip timing. Live race results are posted online and a QR code at the race provides immediate access to individual results. Runner tracking via SMS updates is offered during registration. Water stations are provided along the courses: seven stations on the half marathon route and one on the 5k route; some stations will also offer sports drink. Port-a-johns will be available near the check-in area.
Awards are given to the top three men and women overall and to first and second place male and female in standard age categories; top three overall finishers are not eligible for age-group awards. The event awards points toward the Year-Long 5k, Endurance, Back of the Pack, and Winter Series. Packet pickup is available at Road Runner Sports in Arlington prior to the race.
