Event

The 2026 Valentine Greenway Challenge is scheduled for February 7, 2026 in Black Mountain, North Carolina, with the listed location at 401 Laurel Circle Drive. The event is presented by Black Mountain Recreation & Parks in partnership with the Black Mountain Greenways & Trails Committee and is the fourth annual running of the race. The event features a newly-designed 5K course that begins near the picnic pavilion at Lake Tomahawk.

Details

All sponsorships, donations, and 50% of registration fees will be donated to the Black Mountain Greenways & Trails Committee. Funds raised will be used toward replacing the greenway bridge along the Oaks Trail at Veterans Park. Runners will receive a goodie bag that includes a Greenway Challenge bandana, chapstick, and sponsor giveaways. Packet pickup is scheduled at the Lakeview Senior Center on the day before the race and on race day. An awards ceremony will take place after the event. Listed event sponsors include State Farm - Jerry Morris and Mountain Running Company. Registration is available in early, regular, and race day periods.
