Vale of York 5M & 10M
The Vale of York event on 21 March 2027 is held at York Gliding Centre, Rufforth Airfield West, York YO23 3NA. The event offers two distances:
- 10 miles (10M)
- 5 miles (5M)
The course starts from a runway and uses fast, flat, traffic-free closed roads and country lanes west of York and east of Leeds. The 5M is an out-and-back of 2.5 miles each way. The 10M heads south from the start for about 2 miles, then west to Healaugh, south to Catterton, east toward Bilbrough and back north to the start.
Age restrictions apply: 10M entrants must be aged 17 years or over on the day; 5M entrants must be aged 15 years or over on the day.
Entry fees are structured with and without a t-shirt. Without t-shirt: 10M £23 affiliated, £25 unaffiliated; 5M £16 affiliated, £18 unaffiliated. With t-shirt: 10M £33 affiliated, £35 unaffiliated; 5M £26 affiliated, £28 unaffiliated. Entrants can choose to add a t-shirt and can opt in or out of a medal.
The race is chip-timed and UKA licensed, with results published on Power of 10. Finish provisions include chocolate and water. Wooden medals are used; they are made in the UK and are presented for environmental and recycling reasons. Race photographs are available for free download; images will be tagged with race numbers a day or two after the event and photographers will be positioned around the course.
