US FreedomWalk Festival
The US FreedomWalk Festival is an international, noncompetitive, non-profit walking festival co-hosted by Arlington County, AVA America's Walking Club and the IML Walking Association. The event promotes walking as a fitness activity and aims to promote international understanding and friendships while showcasing the USA by walking through monuments, memorials and parks of Arlington and Washington, DC.
The festival takes place over three days on the Friday, Saturday and Sunday of the third week in October. The Twenty-Fifth US FreedomWalk Festival is scheduled for 16 to 18 October 2026 at American Legion Post 139, 3445 Washington Blvd, Arlington, VA. The festival brings together walkers from multiple countries and includes additional affiliated Club events that can be completed year round.
Event offerings include:
- IML trails: 6 to 14 miles (10 to 22 kilometers)
- Marathon: 42 kilometers, Saturday only
- AVA IVV Welcome Walk: 3 or 6 miles (5 or 10 kilometers)
- Short walks: 5 or 6 kilometers, IML credit for over 80 year olds
