Urban Wildland Half Marathon & 5K

The Urban Wildland Half Marathon and 5K is a community road race in Veterans Park, Richfield (636 E 66th St). The event began in 2003 to benefit Wood Lake Nature Center’s environmental education program in partnership with Richfield Public Schools, a partnership that began in 1971.

Both courses are circular and wind through shaded residential neighborhoods, natural areas including Wood Lake Nature Center, and neighborhood parks. The half marathon is a USATF certified course. Chip timing for results is provided by MTEC Results, and race day award categories are listed on the event results page.

Distances:

  • Half marathon (USATF certified course)
  • 5K

Packet pickup is available at the Richfield Band Shell next to the Ice Arena in Veterans Park. Pickup is open the day before the race between 8:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m., and on race day beginning at 5:45 a.m.; a friend may pick up materials for a runner. Finisher medals are wooden pieces on a leather lanyard and this year’s medal is shaped like a turtle.

Registration is open online until race start and remains online only. Entry fees increase over the season; T shirt availability depends on registration date and extra shirts may be sold after the race if available. The event has a published severe weather policy.
