39th Annual Reindeer Run Mpls
The Reindeer Run is a long-standing running tradition in Minnesota, held around Lake Harriet since 1987. The 2026 event marks the 39th year of this holiday-themed race, which takes place at the Lake Harriet Bandshell Park in Minneapolis. Participants can expect a festive atmosphere featuring runners in various costumes, with opportunities for photographs with seasonal figures such as Mr. and Mrs. Claus and Rudolph.
The event offers several live race distances and a dedicated children's event:
- 5K Run and 5K Walk
- 10K Run
- 15K Run
- Kids Run (less than half a mile)
The Kids Run is open to participants between the ages of 2 and 10. Parents are permitted to run alongside their children, and strollers are allowed for this specific category. Children participating in this race receive a beanie hat and a finisher medal.
For those unable to attend in person, virtual options are available for the 5K, 10K, 15K, and Half Marathon distances. These virtual participants can complete their run or walk at any point during the month of December. The event also serves as a fundraising platform for the Salvation Army.
