Overview
The Upper Cumberland Haunted Half Marathon is an annual fall event organized by WCTE PBS. The race serves as a fundraiser to support public broadcasting and educational programming. Participants can choose between three different race formats:
- Half Marathon (13.1 miles)
- Relay Team
- 5K
Race Details
The half marathon takes runners on a scenic route through the country. The course includes multiple water stations, bathroom facilities, and designated areas for spectators. The 5K option shares the same start and finish line as the half marathon and follows the first mile of the longer course. The relay option allows teams of three people to complete the 13.1-mile distance, with each member running a specific segment.
Age requirements are in place for safety; participants must be at least 12 years old for the half marathon and at least 10 years old for the 5K. This event is also a qualifier for the Run the Cumberland Race Series.
Recognition and Swag
All finishers receive a themed "haunted" medal at the finish line. Registered participants receive a custom race bib, and those who register by a specific deadline are provided with a themed race shirt in either short or long sleeve options.
Awards are presented for various categories, including the top three finishers in five-year age brackets for the half marathon. Specialized awards are available for Master (40-59 years old) and Grand Master (60+ years old) runners. The event also features prizes for the best individual and relay team costumes.
