Up Up and Away 5K : Muskogee
The Up Up and Away 5K takes place on August 22, 2026 at Hatbox Sports Complex, 3601 Arline Ave, Muskogee, OK. The event is presented by Saint Francis Hospital and hosted in partnership with Muskogee Running Club and I-40 Race Service. It returns in 2026 following the cancellation of the Muskogee Hot Air Balloon Festival in 2025 and is scheduled alongside the balloon festival activities.
The festival and the run are weather-dependent, with wind conditions noted as particularly influential. On clear, calm mornings runners pass through views of hot air balloons launching and floating around Hatbox Events Park.

Shirts are guaranteed for registrations completed by August 9. Awards include medals for the top three in each 5k age group and trophies for the top three overall 5k male and female. Refreshments are served during and after the run. The 5k uses a USATF certified course, listed as Hatbox 5k Loop (OK19002DG).
Packet pickup is available Friday, August 21 from 3:00 to 6:00 at the Muskogee Parks & Recreation office at Spaulding Park on the corner of Okmulgee and Eastside Blvd. Alternate pickup is at the start/finish tent the morning of the event.
