Up Up and Away 5K in Muskogee
Up Up and Away 5K takes place on August 22, 2026 at Hatbox Sports Complex, 3601 Arline Ave, Muskogee, OK 74401. The event returns in 2026 after the 2025 festival was canceled, and is presented by Saint Francis Hospital in partnership with Muskogee Running Club, I:40 Race Service, and Muskogee Parks & Recreation.
The event weekend is held alongside a hot air balloon festival. The festival, and to a lesser extent the run, are weather dependent, especially wind conditions. On calm mornings runners may see hot air balloons launching and floating around Hatbox Events Park.

Race details include a USATF certified course for the 5K (Hatbox 5k Loop OK19002DG), medals for the top three in each 5K age group, and trophies for the top three overall 5K male and female. Shirts are guaranteed for registrations completed by August 9. Refreshments are served during and after the run.
Packet pickup and registration are available Friday, August 21 from 3:00 to 6:00 at the Muskogee Parks & Recreation office at Spaulding Park, corner of Okmulgee and Eastside Blvd. Packets are also available the morning of the event at the start and finish tent.
Registration pricing listed for the 5K is an early bird rate of $25 through July 4, $30 after July 4, and $35 day of. The Fun Run early bird rate is $20 and $25 thereafter and on race day. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
