Event overview
The Taos Ski Valley Up & Over Trail Run Weekend takes place August 1-2, 2026 in Taos Ski Valley, New Mexico. The weekend includes multiple trail events across alpine terrain. Races are professionally timed by Jackrabbit Race Management. Some events have age limits and specific registration rules.

Distances offered include:
- 10k Up & Over 10K
- 20k 20th Anniversary 20K (double-loop)
- 1k Up & Dn kids run
- Vertical 1K VerticAL's Vert-K
The Up & Over 10K features a climb of 2,612 ft from 9,321 ft to 11,819 ft and a technical descent through high alpine terrain with views of Kachina and Wheeler Peaks. The 20K double-loop course lists about 4,700 ft of vertical gain. VerticAL's Vert-K is a vertical 1K up Al’s Run with roughly 1,497 ft of ascent. The Up & Dn is an out-and-back 1k on Pioneer Run for children.
Entry details and runner services
Some events are open only to certain ages: VerticAL's Vert-K and Double Trouble require participants aged 16 and older; the Up & Dn is for children 10 and under. The Double Trouble option times both the Up & Over 10K and VerticAL's Vert-K and awards a prize for best combined overall male and female. Registered runners receive a cotton-poly t-shirt, a lightweight runner's backpack used as a bib bag, one beer ticket for those 21 and over, a 20th Anniversary commemorative finisher premium, on-course hydration and post-race recovery from Trail Gains, and prizes for age-category placings.
