Up & Over Trail Run Weekend
The Up & Over Trail Run Weekend takes place in Taos Ski Valley, New Mexico, during the first weekend of August. The event features several mountain running challenges held across two days on rugged alpine trails.
On Saturday, the schedule includes the 10K and 20K distances. The 10 km course involves a climb of 2,612 feet, starting at an elevation of 9,321 feet and reaching a peak of 11,819 feet before a technical descent. To mark the 20th anniversary, a 20 km double-loop course is available, featuring 4,700 feet of vertical gain.
Sunday's events focus on steep vertical climbing and youth participation. The VerticAL’s VertK is a scramble up the Al's Run ski trail, gaining 1,497 feet in distance. This specific event is open to participants aged 16 and older. For younger athletes, the Up & Dn Kid’s 1 km is an untimed out-and-back run on Pioneer Run for children aged 10 and under.
Available distances:
- 10 km trail run with 2,612 feet of elevation gain
- 20 km double-loop trail run with 4,700 feet of vertical gain
- 1 km vertical scramble (VerticAL’s VertK)
- 1 km kids fun run
Participants who complete both a Saturday race and the Sunday vertical climb are eligible for the Double Trouble challenge. Registered runners receive a custom t-shirt, a runner's backpack, and a finisher's premium. The event also provides on-course hydration and professional timing services.
