Until All the Pieces Fit Every Piece Matters Fun Run
The Until All the Pieces Fit Every Piece Matters Fun Run is an annual athletic event held in Sheffield, Alabama. This family-friendly gathering takes place at the York Bluff Baptist Church and serves to support Autism Awareness and local special education programs. Participants are welcome to run or walk, and the event specifically encourages the use of costumes.
The event features two distinct distances:
- 5K Race
- 1-Mile Fun Run
The proceedings from the event are managed by Every Piece Matters, INC, an organization that provides educational resources and training to school districts. These funds assist in purchasing sensory equipment, touch-screen technology, and emotional-skills games for children on the ASD spectrum, as well as supporting a scholarship for an autistic high school senior.
Recognition for participants includes unique, hand-painted rock trophies created by children on the autism spectrum. Awards are presented in the 5K category for the top three male and female finishers, master category winners, and age-group placements ranging from 0 to 79. The 1-Mile Fun Run also provides age-group awards for placements first through third. Treats are provided for participants following the conclusion of the races.
