University of Okoboji Homecoming Races
The University of Okoboji Homecoming Races is a multi-discipline event held in Arnolds Park and around West Lake Okoboji. The program includes a triathlon, team triathlon, and road and trail races with a half-marathon, 10K and 5K. The event is traditionally held on the third Saturday in July and the 2026 edition is scheduled for July 18, 2026. Historically the races have drawn more than 1,200 athletes and in 2025 welcomed over 1,300 competitors from 27 states and three countries.
The triathlon offers individual and team entries and uses a transition area located at the top of Preservation Plaza in Arnolds Park. Cash prizes are awarded to the overall top male and female in the triathlon.
Road and trail races run on routes around West Lake Okoboji. Shuttle buses are provided from Arnolds Park Amusement Park to race start locations. Cash prizes are awarded to the overall top male and female in the half-marathon and the 10K, and the top three finishers in each age category receive a custom medal.

- Triathlon: Swim 0.6 miles, Bike 18 miles, Run 3.8 miles.
- Team Triathlon: teams of 2 to 3 competitors.
- Road and trail races: Half-Marathon, 10K, 5K.
