United Financial Freeland Walleye Races 5K/10K
The United Financial Freeland Walleye Races take place in Freeland, Michigan as part of the Freeland Walleye Festival on April 26, 2026. The event is organized by United Financial Credit Union with Dig Deep Race Events and local partners; proceeds support the Freeland Lions Club, a 501c3 nonprofit. The field is limited to 450 participants.
The race program includes multiple events and distances:
- 10K Run
- 5K Run/Walk
- 5K Fun Walk (untimed)
- Kids Fun Run (untimed)
Both the 10K and 5K courses use the Great Lakes Bay Regional Trail addition near the Freeland SportsZone. The 10K is an out-and-back route with a turnaround approximately 3.1 miles from the start; the 5K is an out-and-back with a turnaround about 1.55 miles from the start. Races begin and finish near the tennis courts behind the Freeland SportsZone.
Entries include a custom finisher medal, a race t-shirt (optional at registration), professional timing results, and free online finisher photographs. The 5K and 10K are USATF sanctioned and will be timed according to sanctioning requirements.
