Unicorn 5k - Highlands Ranch
The event takes place at Highlands Heritage Regional Park, 9651 S Quebec St, Highlands Ranch, CO 80130. It offers two distances: a 5k run/walk and an untimed 3/4 mile saunter. The saunter is described as long enough to raise heart rate without being a sprint and does not receive a finisher medal.
Participants in the 5k receive a gender-specific event shirt, a finisher medal, and chip timing. All attendees are offered free cotton candy, free photo downloads, free balloon animals or designs, and free face painting. Costumes are encouraged. The Balloon Guy provides balloon creations at the event.
The event lists Backpack Society as a charity partner, collecting food donations and raising funds for students facing food insecurity; the organization works with schools in Douglas County, Littleton, and Englewood school districts and is community supported. There is a sneakers donation program in partnership with Sneakers4Funds that accepts gently used or new athletic shoes at advanced packet pick up or on the day of the event; donated shoes support Growing Home.
Registration incentives include referral credits of up to $20 returned toward registration and a team discount of $5 off per person for teams of five or more in the 5k.
