Underground Railroad 5K
The Underground Railroad 5K is an annual running event held in Princeton, Illinois. The 2026 edition marks the 33rd year of this competition. The race utilizes an officially certified course (IL25042NM) that begins and ends at the Bureau County Metro Center, located at 837 Park Avenue West.
Participants can choose from the following event options:
- 5K Run/Walk (3.1 miles)
- Kiddie Fun Run
The 5K race is part of the Starved Rock Runners Club Circuit. Registration options include individual entries and corporate team packages for up to 20 participants. Pre-registered participants are guaranteed a T-shirt, while those registering on the day of the event may receive one while supplies last.
Awards are presented to the overall male and female winners, as well as the top male and female finishers from Princeton. Medals are also awarded to the top three finishers in several age divisions, ranging from 9 and under up to 70 and older.
