Event overview
Uncle Clyde's Run & Slide is a team relay held at Purgatory Resort in Durango, Colorado on February 28, 2026. The event features two timed races: 60-minute and 90-minute formats. The 90-minute race is open to ages 14 to 99. Registration is per team; a team registers once and the partner does not need a separate entry. The listed entry fee is $42.34 (includes a $3.34 processing fee); price increases after January 31, 2026. The event is limited to 40 teams.
Race format and logistics
Teams of two run up the resort tubing hill carrying a tube, slide down on the tube, then hand the tube to their teammate in a transition area. Organizers count completed laps only; partial laps do not count. Teams must alternate laps for the first 30 minutes; that requirement ends after 30 minutes. There are male, female, coed, kids, and parent/child categories. Three-person teams are allowed but are not eligible for prizes. Check-in opens 45 minutes before the race and participants should be checked in at least 15 minutes before their race; check-in is at the bottom of the tubing hill in the Columbine area. The closest parking is the Gelande Lot, about a 200 yard walk to the tubing hill. Costumes are encouraged; cold-weather clothing and appropriate footwear are recommended.
