10th Annual UMEI Lightning Bolt
The 10th Annual UMEI Lightning Bolt is a community running event held at Point Pelee National Park on September 26, 2026. The event program includes multiple distances and a timed format managed by W.R.A.C.E; recorded times can be used to qualify.
Distances offered:
- 10 km run
- 5 km walk or run
- 1 km kids run
- 400 m kids dash
Registration benefits and event services include free entry into Point Pelee for participants, a Lightning Bolt race shirt for those registered by the early bird deadline of September 10, 2026, chip timing by W.R.A.C.E, post race refreshments including Mennonite sausage, a swag table, awards for top finishers, kids medals, and many door prizes. Each participant receives a ticket for general door prizes; participants who raise pledges of CA$300 or more receive a UMEI branded cooler bag at registration.
A family rate covers two adults and up to three children for the Family 5K Lightning Run/Walk. Children registered under a family entry may receive a 50% registration discount for the kids 400 m dash or 1 km run using the FAMILY code. The course map indicates one lap equals 5 km and a 10 km entry completes two laps. The event runs rain or shine and participants should expect possible black flies and mosquitos.
