10th Annual UMEI Lightning Bolt
The 10th Annual UMEI Lightning Bolt takes place on September 26, 2026 at Point Pelee National Park, Point Pelee Drive, Municipality of Leamington, Ontario. The event offers a mix of timed and non-timed events intended for families.
Distances offered:
- 10 km run
- 5 km run
- 5 km walk
- 1 km kids run
- 400 m kids dash
The event is chip timed by W.R.A.C.E and can be used to qualify. One lap of the course measures 5 km; 10 km participants complete two laps. Registration includes free entry into Point Pelee. Registrants who meet the early bird deadline of September 11, 2026 receive a Lightning Bolt race shirt.
Post race provisions include refreshments with Mennonite sausage and a swag table arranged to reduce waste. Awards are given to first, second and third place male and female finishers for the 5K and 10K runs and the 5K walk; children receive medals. Many door prizes will be drawn; each participant receives a ticket for the general draws. Participants who raise pledges of $300 or more receive a UMEI branded cooler bag at registration.
