About the race
The 10th Annual UMEI Lightning Bolt takes place on September 26, 2026 at Point Pelee National Park in the Municipality of Leamington, Ontario. The event offers races for adults and children and is organized as a chip timed event with W.R.A.C.E; recorded results can be used to qualify.
Distances included:
- 10 km run
- 5 km walk or run
- 1 km kids run
- 400 m kids dash
Registration includes free entry into Point Pelee and, for those who meet the early registration deadline, a Lightning Bolt long sleeve race shirt. The event features chip timing by W.R.A.C.E, an awards ceremony for top finishers in the 5k and 10k runs and the 5k walk, kids medals, post-race refreshments including Mennonite sausage, a swag table, and multiple door prizes.
A family registration option is available for two adults and up to three children, and a family discount code applies for children who also enter the kids races. Participants receive a ticket for general door prize draws; participants who raise at least CA$300 in pledges receive an event branded cooler bag at registration. The course map notes one lap equals 5 km and 10 km entrants complete two laps. The event runs rain or shine and notes the likely presence of black flies and mosquitos.
