Ultra Obscura

Ultra Obscura

Ultra Obscura is a multi-stage trail ultramarathon held at Mont Sutton in Sutton, Quebec on June 19-20, 2027, organized by Sinister Sports. The event uses a six-stage format with multiple distance options and emphasizes planning and in-race decision making as well as endurance.

The course is entirely on trails with no asphalt sections. Runners should expect technical, rugged terrain and sustained elevation on some options. The full 84 km course includes +2750 m and -2750 m of elevation change. The event description highlights scenic views of the Sutton mountains and a focus on sustainable trail use.

The race is limited to 200 participants. A main transition zone is located at Mont Sutton where solo runners and teams may keep a resupply bag; the zone provides potable water and snack food. Aid stations are placed at midpoints of each stage, are monitored, and supply snacks and water. It is not permitted to leave or retrieve gear at those checkpoints; runners are encouraged to deposit waste there. Relay teams should time their arrivals so the incoming and outgoing runners coordinate at the transition zone. Support teams may receive runners in the transition zone but should not join at the mid-stage checkpoints.
