Ultimutt Race : dog and owner obstacle race with festival
Ultimutt Race is a dog-and-owner obstacle course event that combines a running wave with an all-day festival. The event is presented as a 5K (3 miles) course featuring 17 obstacles. Participants may choose a Competitive Wave that is chip timed or a Fun Run that is not timed; Competitive Wave runners must complete obstacles or perform a 30-squat penalty to skip one.
Dogs must be at least one year old, up to date on vaccinations (Rabies, DHPP, Bordetella), and free of illnesses or behavior issues. Each participant may run one dog at a time; running twice with different dogs requires a separate registration and swapping the race bib. Dogs must remain leashed at all times; retractable leashes are prohibited and a hands-free leash with a harness is recommended.
The event uses staggered starts of five racers every minute to reduce congestion at obstacles. Registered finishers receive a medal, a finisher T-shirt, a dog bandana, and a commemorative iron-on patch. Race winners earn the title UltiMutt Champion, a trophy, and a listing on the event Champions page.
Fundraising is optional; participants are encouraged to raise funds with a $100 challenge. One hundred percent of donations and a portion of registration fees are gifted to a partnering local animal shelter. The event also offers age and service discounts and includes volunteer and sponsor opportunities. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
