Event overview
The Ulster Project Delaware 5K is a road race held in Wilmington, DE on July 18, 2026. The event benefits Ulster Project Delaware (UPD), a program founded in 1976 that brings groups of Northern Irish teenagers to the Wilmington area to live with host families for four weeks. UPD participants are ages 14 to 16, with an equal split of Catholic and Protestant teens and gender balance. During the month they take part in team building, social, sightseeing, spiritual, and service activities.
Logistics and race details
The race starts and finishes in the Conaty Park area near 1591 Gilpin Ave, Wilmington, DE 19806. Race participants receive a race T-shirt, post-race snacks and drinks, and there is a post-race celebration at Catherine Rooney's. Bib pickup is handled at Catherine Rooney's on race day. Awards are given for Overall Male/Female and Overall Masters Male/Female, and the top three in each age group for males and females. Age groups include 9 and under; 10-13; 14-19; 20-29; 30-39; 40-49; 50-59; 60-69; 70+. Overall and Masters awards are based on gun time; age-group awards are based on chip time.
