UCI Anti-Cancer Challenge : event overview
The UC Irvine Anti-Cancer Challenge is a community fundraising event held on Saturday, Oct. 10, 2026, on the UC Irvine campus. It raises funds for cancer research at the UCI Health Chao Family Comprehensive Cancer Center and for pediatric research at CHOC, part of Rady Children’s Health. The program is an activity of the University of California, Irvine Foundation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit.
Event activities include a family friendly festival with food and live music and noncompetitive participation options. The main activity options listed for event day are:
- 5K Run/Walk
- 14-, 35-, 60- and 100-Mile Ride
- Mountain Bike Ride
The event is not a timed race. Participants register and commit to fundraising targets that must be met by Oct. 31, 2026. Fundraising categories and commitments include Child/Student $25, Adult $50, and Adult VIP $500; the Adult VIP level includes access to a VIP lounge. Donations made on a general donation page do not automatically register someone for the event. Each participant has an individual fundraising page; individual totals contribute to team totals while donations to a team page do not count toward individual commitments.
Funded projects are announced the following year to show how participant-raised dollars support pilot studies and early phase clinical trials that inform prevention, detection and treatment research. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
