Two Hearted Trail Run
Two Hearted Trail Run is a trail race series held in Paradise, Michigan, in the remote northeastern Upper Peninsula. The event offers multiple distances and routes that run through the Two Hearted River wilderness and along Lake Superior shoreline.
Distances:
- 50K
- Marathon
- Half Marathon
The course is roughly 80% single track and 20% dirt forest road or two track. The 50K and marathon routes follow sections of Lake Superior coastline with high bluffs, shoreline forests, and inland stretches along Culhane Lake and the Little Two Hearted River. The 50K course includes a cabled foot bridge at the mouth of the Two Hearted River and sections on the Giant Pines Trail with very old white pines. The finish for all races is near the Upper Tahquamenon Falls, approximately 200 meters from Camp 33 Brew Pub.
The half marathon is a loop that passes through old growth white pine forest and along the southern ridge overlooking Clark Lake. Aid stations are located about every 5 to 7 miles; runners are required to carry a 20 ounce water bottle or a functional hydration system. Volunteers provide cold water and Gnarly Fuel2O for refills. The 50K entry requires prior completion of a marathon or ultramarathon. The event has an entrant limit of 400 and the course is marked with colored flags, directional arrows and mile markers. Buses transport runners to the start and gear bags are returned to the finish. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
