Event Overview

The Tahqua Trail Run takes place on August 8, 2026, at Tahquamenon Falls State Park in Paradise, Michigan. The event offers three trail distances: 50K, 25K, and 10K. Registration closes on August 3, 2026.

Course Details

The course starts on the Tahqua Trail near Whitefish Bay. Runners follow a dirt forest road along the Tahquamenon River before joining the single-track North Country Trail. This trail passes through spruce swale, pine ridges, bogs, and Jack Pine savannah, and past Camp 10 and Water Tank lakes.

After approximately 9.5 miles, the course reaches Lower Tahquamenon Falls. The trail transitions into the Lower Falls trails before merging with the River Trail, which runs along the Tahquamenon River. This section features old-growth hemlock and yellow birch trees. The sound of the Upper Falls signals the approach to the finish near the top of the large waterfall. The new 50K distance for 2026 will start at the Tahquamenon Falls Parking lot and follow an out-and-back version of the 25K route.

Organizer

The event is operated by Great Lakes Endurance, which has organized trail running events in the region since 2000. As of the 2026 season, the events are operated by Aravaipa Running. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
