Event overview
Twisted Roots takes place on Sunday, September 20, 2026, at High Cliff State Park in Sherwood, Wisconsin (N7630 State Park Road). The event, organized by TYDISH Running, offers trail running races in two distances.
- Marathon
- Half Marathon
Cutoff times are 8 hours for the full marathon and 5 hours for the half marathon. Some trail sections are shared with mountain bikers and horse riders; participants are asked to yield and follow trail etiquette.
Course and logistics
The courses pass views of Lake Winnebago, include technical single-track sections, wide rolling prairie areas, and the cliffs of the Niagara Escarpment with historical Lime Kiln Ruins. The event base is the Gathering Space in the upper lot, which provides the main aid station and ample parking. A second aid station will be located along the route pending final DNR approval.
Food and drink offerings include running snacks, water, soda, and an electrolyte beverage. The event is cupless; participants must supply their own hydration carriers or reusable cups and volunteers will assist with refills. A pasta buffet will be offered after each race. No alcohol, no disposable single-use cups, and no cowbells are permitted at the event. Registration closes on Thu, Sep 17. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
