Twisted Roots
Twisted Roots is a trail running event held at High Cliff State Park in Sherwood, Wisconsin. The event offers two distances on natural and technical terrain, including views of Lake Winnebago, sections of single track, wide rolling prairie, cliffs of the Niagara Escarpment, and the Lime Kiln Ruins. Some trail sections are shared with mountain bikers and horse riders; participants should yield and use proper trail etiquette.
The event use the Gathering Space in the upper lot as the main base. Ample parking is available and there will be at least one main aid station at the Gathering Space plus another station along the route pending final approvals. On-course refreshments include water, soda, and an electrolyte drink; runners must provide their own reusable cups or hydration carriers because this is a cupless event and volunteers can assist with refills. A pasta buffet will be offered after each race.
The organizer is TYDISH Running, a female owned group that emphasizes community support and conservation. Cutoff times are eight hours for the full marathon and five hours for the half marathon. Event rules state no alcohol, no disposable single use cups, and no cowbells by crew staff or spectators. Registration closes Thu Sep 17 at 11:59 PM CT.
