Twisted Roots at High Cliff State Park
Twisted Roots is a trail running event hosted by TYDISH Running at High Cliff State Park in Sherwood, WI. The event offers a full marathon and a half marathon across mixed terrain that includes technical singletrack, wide rolling prairie sections, and views of Lake Winnebago and the Niagara Escarpment with historical Lime Kiln Ruins.
The organizer is a female-owned running group. The event will be run with two race directors and limited exclusive use of the park, so participants and visitors share park facilities. Base operations are at the Gathering Space in the upper parking lot, which provides ample parking and the main aid station. A second aid station will be placed along the route pending final DNR approval. Cutoff times are 8 hours for the full marathon and 5 hours for the half marathon.
This is a cupless event. Water, soda, and an electrolyte beverage will be available and volunteers will assist in refilling athletes' hydration carriers or reusable cups brought by participants. A post-race pasta buffet will be offered. Certain trail sections are shared with mountain bikers and horse riders; participants should yield and follow trail etiquette.
Registration closes on Thu, Sep 17 at 11:59 PM CT. A portion of proceeds and optional donations can support the Friends of High Cliff State Park. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
