Overview
The Medtronic Twin Cities Marathon Weekend is a multi-day event featuring several races. The weekend includes free family events for children and a selection of running events for various distances.
Event Distances and Details
The 2026 event is scheduled for October 2-4. The listed races are:
- TC Family Events (October 3): Free events for kids including a Diaper Dash, Toddler Trot, Half Mile, and Mile.
- TC 5K (October 3): A walker-friendly event that starts and ends at the State Capitol grounds.
- TC 10K (October 3): A race that goes down Summit Avenue and finishes at the State Capitol.
- Medtronic TC 10 Mile (October 4): The course crosses the Mississippi River and finishes at the State Capitol.
- TC Half Marathon For More (October 4)
- Medtronic Twin Cities Marathon (October 4): Known as "The Most Beautiful Urban Marathon in America®," it winds through downtown districts and crosses the Mississippi River.
- TC Loony Challenge (October 3 & 4): Participants complete three races to secure a spot in the 10 Mile.
- TC Ultra Loony Challenge (October 3 & 4): Participants complete the 5K, 10K, and Marathon.
Registration and Logistics
Public registration for the 2026 events opens on Tuesday, March 3, 2026. Early registration is available for participants who join a charity team, become a TCM sustaining member, or register through the Corporate Team Challenge. Prices increase as the event approaches. A limited refund policy is available within 48 hours of registration. Participants may transfer their registration to another person or switch distances before a set deadline, provided the target event is not sold out.
Event Policies
- Time Limits: Finishers for the TC 10K must maintain a pace of 16 minutes per mile or faster, and TC 5K finishers must maintain a 25-minute-per-mile pace. The 10 Mile and Half Marathon must be completed by 2:50 PM. The Marathon has a course closure time of six hours and 30 minutes from the start line closure.
- Strollers and Pets: Strollers are permitted in 5K or shorter distances. Pets are not permitted on the course.
- App: The Twin Cities in Motion app provides participant tracking and event alerts.
Additional Features
The event includes a Health & Fitness Expo. An Equity in Motion program offers a 50% registration discount for individuals from underrepresented communities. There are adaptive participation pathways for athletes with disabilities. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
