Twas the Night Before 5K
The Twas the Night Before 5K is an annual event hosted by the Siembida & Boggs Philanthropic Foundation at Firestone Park in Columbiana, Ohio. This race is held in conjunction with the Joy of Christmas light show, allowing participants to travel through a display featuring more than 1,000,000 lights. The event offers two participation formats:
- 5K Run/Walk
- Virtual 5K
The physical course begins and ends near Pavilion #1, situated next to Mirror Lake within the park. The race is chip-timed, and participants receive a custom bib number, a long-sleeve shirt, and a commemorative finisher medal. Awards are presented to the top three overall male and female finishers, as well as the top three finishers in several age categories spanning from under 10 to 70 and up.
Post-race activities include professional timing services and a gathering inside the pavilion near the finish line where cookies are provided and a DJ plays music. An after-party is also held at Birdfish Brewery nearby. Due to the event size and conditions, only service dogs in harnesses are permitted on the course. All participants must collect their race materials at designated locations in Youngstown or Columbiana during the weekend prior to the event, as there is no registration or packet collection available on the day of the race.
