Turtleman Triathlon
The Turtleman Triathlon is a multisport event held at Turtle Lake Park in Shoreview, Minnesota. Recognized as the first and longest-running triathlon in the state, the competition features courses designed to be accessible, including flat bike segments and run paths with shaded trail sections. Participants swim in the calm waters of Turtle Lake using a self-seeded time trial start, which allows individuals to begin their race at a comfortable interval.
Participants can choose from various race formats and distances:
- Sprint Triathlon: 0.5 mile swim, 12.5 mile bike, and 3.1 mile run.
- Olympic Triathlon: 1 mile swim, 25 mile bike, and 5.5 mile run.
- Aqua Sprint: 0.5 mile swim and 12.5 mile bike.
- Aqua Olympic: 1 mile swim and 25 mile bike.
The event includes divisions for Para and Relay teams. All ages and ability levels are welcome to participate. Amenities provided include professional photography, free parking located across the street from the park, and a post-race barbecue. Registered athletes receive a race bib, timing chip, event shirt, and a finisher medal. Awards are presented to the top overall male and female finishers, as well as the top three male and female athletes in various age groups ranging from 19 and under to 70 and over.
