Turtle Trot - Lovers Key State Park
The Turtle Trot takes place on Saturday, April 18, 2026, at Lovers Key State Park, 8700 Estero Boulevard, Fort Myers Beach, FL 33931. The event features a 5K run with an entry price of $45. Registration opens February 27, 2026. Park admission is included with registration. Awards will be given for Overall M/F, Masters, Grandmasters, Senior Grandmasters, and Veterans Master. Age-group awards are listed as: 19 and under; 20-29; 30-39; 40-44; 45-49; 50-54; 55-59; 60-64; 65-69; 70+.
Course and beneficiary
The course runs on park trails through maritime hammocks, coastal dune habitats, and mangrove estuaries, and it finishes near the beach by the Gulf of Mexico. The event materials note possible wildlife sightings such as dolphins, shorebirds, and turtles. Proceeds support the Friends of Lovers Key (FOLK), a 501(c)(3) citizen support organization that raises funds for Lovers Key State Park. FOLK has provided funding for fencing and signs during turtle and bird nesting seasons, cleanup and repairs after storms, equipment such as mowers and tram cars, and support for community enrichment programs and volunteer staffing.
