Event Overview
The Turnpike Trot 10K & Rabbit Run 5K is a trail running event on Sunday, October 26th, 2025. It takes place at the Danby Lodge National Park Centre in Danby, near Whitby. The races are part of the Hardmoors Race Series.
Distances and Course
The event offers two distances:
- Turnpike Trot 10K
- Rabbit Run 5K
Both races start at the same time. The 10K course is a double loop of the 5K route. A route map for the 5K is available.
Participation and Logistics
The event has a participant limit of 150. Registration is open from 10:00 to 10:30 on race day. There is no official time limit, though the organizers note runners should "not take all day."
Entry Fees and Inclusions
Entry fees vary by distance and affiliation status:
- 10K: £32 for UKA-affiliated runners, £34 for unaffiliated runners.
- 5K: £22 for UKA-affiliated runners, £24 for unaffiliated runners.
The fee includes a finisher's medal, parking, refreshments, and a fully marshalled and marked route. Race t-shirts are available for an additional £10.
Rules and Requirements
There is no compulsory kit list, but runners are advised to bring a waterproof jacket and trainers with grip according to the weather. The event is cupless; runners must bring their own cup if they want a drink at the aid station or finish. Dogs are not permitted to run with participants.
Awards
Awards are given in each event (10K and 5K) for:
- 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Male under 18.
- 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Female under 18.
- 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Male over 18.
- 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Female over 18.
Registration Details
Entries open on specific dates: first for voucher holders (March 8th, 2026), then for general entries (March 15th, 2026). Entries close on October 1st, 2026, or when the race is full. No refunds or deferrals are offered, but runners may sell their place to another runner via the entry system before the closing date.
