Turkey Vulture Trot 5k and 1-Mile Fun Run
The Turkey Vulture Trot is a holiday running event held at Crystal Mountain in Thompsonville, Michigan. The event includes two distinct distances held on the Thursday of Thanksgiving weekend:
- 5k
- 1-Mile Fun Run
The 5k race takes place on the Mountain Center Road course and utilizes chip timing technology. Runners receive a bib with an electronic device that records the time between crossing the starting line and the finish line. Commemorative medals are awarded to the top three male and female finishers in each age group. The overall male and female winners of the 5k receive a prize pack. Additionally, the first 100 participants to register for the 5k distance receive a water bottle.
The 1-Mile Fun Run is a shorter distance where all participants receive a finisher medal upon completion. A portion of the proceeds from the event is donated to the North Sky Raptor Sanctuary.
Check-in for the event takes place in the Kinlochen Lobby. Race materials are available for pickup the day before the event at the Park at Water's Edge. The awards ceremony is held at the Lodge Pavilion Tent, located slopeside near the Crystal Clipper. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
