Turkey Trot 5K Racine
The Turkey Trot 5K in Racine takes place on Thanksgiving Day at Festival Park / Racine North Beach along the Lake Michigan Pathway. The course runs along the lakefront and River Walk and uses ADA compliant paths that provide several overlooks and seating areas.
The event offers a chip timed 5K with a chip start to reduce close contact. All registered participants receive a finisher medal, a commemorative race bib, and a choice of a T-shirt; an optional performance shirt is available for an additional fee. Food and water are provided at the finish line. Facilities include indoor heated bathrooms rather than porta potties. The course is described as having no hills. Parking is available on the grounds and in the nearby city parking ramp. There will be no awards ceremony after the race.
Packet pickup is available the day before and on the day of the event at Festival Hall, 5 Fifth Street, Racine, WI. Results are posted online with a 48 hour window for corrections; overall awards use gun start while age category awards use chip start. Timing requires shoe tags and visible race bibs; improper or missing tags may result in disqualification.
The event supports local charities and the Racine County Food Bank. A complimentary community Thanksgiving meal is offered at Festival Hall after the event and participants are encouraged to contribute food items such as canned fruit, peanut butter, tuna, beef stew, instant potatoes, and fruit juice.
