Event Overview
The Turkey Trot for A-Rare-Ness is an annual community event held on Thanksgiving Day in Rockwood, Tennessee. Hosted at Cofer's Garage, the gathering supports the Kennedy Ladd Foundation and its mission regarding MPS1. The event features multiple participation options for runners, walkers, and spectators, including a timed race, a non-timed activity, and a social breakfast.
Race Categories
Participants can choose from the following activities:
- 3.1 Miles: A timed 5K run and walk open to various age groups.
- Mini Trot: A non-timed "Wobble for a Cure" event intended for families and children.
Course Information and Regulations
The 5K course has a time limit of one hour and 30 minutes. For safety and insurance reasons, the use of bicycles, rollerblades, and the presence of dogs are prohibited on the course. Walkers are permitted and encouraged to participate.
Awards and Amenities
Awards are presented to the top three overall male and female finishers, as well as the top male and female finishers in the Masters (40+) category. A "Best Dressed Turkey" award is also given to participants wearing festive Thanksgiving-themed costumes.
A pancake breakfast is hosted on-site. Registration for any running event includes the breakfast, while non-participants may purchase separate breakfast tickets. Children under 12 years of age receive the breakfast at no cost. Event t-shirts are provided to those who register by the designated November deadline, with remaining inventory distributed while supplies last for later registrants.
